Final Bow

Wow, so much to say and yet I have no idea how to say it.

Well, finally my 12 (13 really) years of public education are over. For some reason I feel like everything flew by way to fast after AP's, but that's probably due to my rampant hatred of goodbyes.

Anyway, this has been a very interesting school year, which I may outline in the future, but not right now.

I had an awesome time at prom, and I am so glad I brought Riannon (who looked hot!), man I forgot how much I missed that girl. I had a great time just dancing with all my friends, I like how all of us really don't give a crap if we look like idiots, we just have fun. Highlights include picking up Josh, banter with Phil, dancing with everyone, using FPS terms with Geoff and Rob to talk about prom, inventing video game dances with my pals, having my first slow dance be with Matt Johnson, (only to have him stolen, grrr...), and the last dance with Riannon. Then we went to my after prom party where there was talk of ghost hunts, followed by Matt playing the Punisher, and then Matt, Geoff, and I in a massive War of the Monsters/Godzilla: Save the Earth all out brawl. We all won and lost some and it was hilarious as all hell!

Senior trip was pretty cool, spent most of it with Geoff and Morgan, with plenty of Rob and Phil spaced in for comfort. I went rock climbing, and reached the top (given my fear of falling, not to shabby) then watched my pals Phil, Rob, and Morgan get "hypnotized" (I'm convinced Phil actually was for part of it). The ride back was pretty amusing with Rob, Geoff, Matt and I engaging in our usual hijinks.

Graduation went by fast. Spent the time before it making Star Wars jokes with Geoff, Rob, Morgan, and Sean (what else would you expect?) It was a nice ceremony, and I actually didn't think it was that hot out. Afterward I got to see Kate, speech kids, Danny and Ben, and a bunch of other cool kids. However, the highlight of it all had to be running into Norcini and Donaldson, I had forgotten how unbelievably awesome those two were. These are the guys who inspired me to become a teacher in the first place, and luckily I did some quick thinking and got them to sign my diploma's envelope. The only thing I didn't like was the cigars; I can't stand the smell of cigars but restrained myself from going ninja ripshit on the people who had them.

After graduation I went to Pizzeria Uno for dinner with my family, my Uncle Robert (who told us all about boot camp) My Great Aunt Blen (Who is a amazing cook, a unbelievably kind woman, and I'm pretty sure is the source of my ninja gene), and Josh, whose presence was necessary as he is a part of my family at this point. What was interesting is that there was this couple sitting across from us with their newborn son, and my dad kept looking at him, then looking at me, and I swear he got a little teary eyed.

Then to project grad which I got too early, and so I ended up hanging out with Rob, Matt, Amy, and James on the Gazebo. We had a great chat, and James signed my yearbook with a really awesome message. Then we headed in and Rob and I began to explore. We were the first ones at the old fashioned photo, so not only did we get two pictures right away, but they used this really cool one of me and Rob posing as outlaws for their demo. Then Geoff joined in and we took a picture so hilarious that you have to see it to really appreciate it. The three of us also got our caricatures made, naturally as our DnD characters (the lady told us it was the most original request she got, and it was a welcome relief from drawing kids at a mall.) I’ll be scanning all three later as they are to cool not to show. The rest of the night was full of fun, with me winning $700 in black jack and roulette, miming DDR while Rob and Geoff played, losing to Rob in the first puzzle game of the night, then beating him at the obstacle course, and getting selected to be “hypnotized” which was fun.

Saturday was Katie’s grad party, which was also a lot of fun. Got to hang with James and Dave Estabrook, both of whom are brilliant, and a ton of fun to hang around with, especially since I give Dave most of the credit for my senior year speech success, since he taught me almost everything I know. I also got to enjoy the company of all my speech buddies one last time, which was really nice, especially Oliver who gave me a really touching note. Katie taught me how to play Texas’s Hold ‘em which is pretty fun and I even won one game! Katie’s mom gave me a ton of bubbles, which she had originally intended to hand out to everyone, and charged me with giving them to seniors, so I now have a ton of bubbles.

Geoff’s was much more low key, but just as fun. I got one round of War of the Monsters with Matt, and he kicked my ass, but we later determined that Geoff’s controller is fried (I couldn’t lock on), so I’m waiting on that rematch. Then I kicked ass at Godzilla: STE, although once we got some new controllers and Geoff discovered Baragon he won a few rounds, but I still came out on top. I met some of Geoff’s other friends, who were all great guys, and we had a lot of fun. Geoff even opened a time capsule from his 3rd grade class, which, among other things, reminded me what a cool game Grape Escape was, and also I learned that 3rd grade Geoff thought girls were bad. We had a couple rounds of 2 player Katamari Domaci, in which Geoff kicked my ass. Then Geoff’s friend, Jeff (not sure how it’s actually spelled, but this will separate them) proceeded to bring GTA: San Andreas, which was insanely fun with Geoff, Rob, Jeff, and one other guy jumping out of planes and hunting for Big Foot. The evening ended with us watching Family Guy and American Dad, and then we headed home for the night.

It’s been some wild times, I’ll be more reflective later. Till then, my grad party is 5:40 at Roll on America June 10th, then after that at 7:15 at my house. I’ll look for you all (though remember, no drinking or smoking).

Till then have fun
